Celebrating over 10 years of volunteering
This volunteer’s week 2018 we have been saying thank you to all of our volunteers across the Social Care in Action Group.
We are especially proud and thankful to those unsung heroes who have been volunteering with us for many years. Ann Hunt has been volunteering at Holy Families Day Opportunities (formerly Woodside Day Centre) for over 10 years.
Holy Families Day Opportunities, provides tailor made care to support people to carry on living at home for as long as possible, helping individuals to feel part of a community and develop new friendships as well as giving essential respite to carers. When Ann is at Holy Families she helps with the activities at the day centre and supports trips out, makes and serves tea and cake and interacts with the customers.
Ann, volunteer at Holy Families said “My highlight of volunteering is seeing everyone happy and having a good day. To anyone who is thinking about volunteering I would say go for it! It gives me something to do and gets me out. ”
Gloria, Manager of Holy Families Day Opportunities said “Ann is with us twice a week and is very much valued as a member of our team. I’ve only known her since last November but she is an absolute asset.”
A Holy Families customer said “We love Ann and it wouldn’t be the same without her.”
Our volunteers are valued members of our organisation and without them we wouldn’t be able to reach and support as many people in the community.
