Support and Wellbeing Centres (day care)

We place great importance on the promotion of independence of older people who wish to remain in their own homes.  Our Support and Recreation Centres for Older People offer a means of achieving this.  SCA's trained staff and a team of volunteers have run centres across the whole of Southampton for over 20 years. In partnership with carers and service users we deliver services to meet individual needs.

SCA also runs a number of specialist centres that are tailored specifically to meet the needs of older people with mental health needs in a safe and caring environment.  The added value of these centres is the help and assistance they provide to the carers.  Some centres even run a supper club to enable carers to socialise and network with each other.  These centres have sensory gardens and sensory rooms to provide rest and relaxation for clients or gentle stimulation.

SCA operates 25 centres per week in addition to two specialist dementia centres which each run six days per week and the ethnic minority specific centres.  There are approximately 800 places being used each week. Our transport service ensures that each client is collected from their home and taken safely to and from their centre in fully accessible vehicles.
