Useful web links and addresses

The purpose of these Web links and addresses is to signpost an individual or carer to information generally accessible through a range of useful websites, some of which are local and some national, and occasionally, international.

If you are somewhat unsure how to access information, this is where our team of trained volunteers can help in person, through a visit to our Patients and Carers Resource Room based in the heart of the Fenwick Health and Well Being Centre.  You can drop in to the Centre during its opening hours or ring for an appointment.  The Resource Room is located next to the Carers Together New Forest Office.

Some people seeking information may be well used to using the internet and others may not, in either case, it does sometimes help to talk to someone who can provide a little help beyond ‘surfing the net'.  We also have a range of leaflets and advice sheets available at the centre.

We work in partnership with our colleagues in the NHS, Social Services, other statutory agencies, the voluntary sector and the local community. Through this partnership approach we will endeavor to ensure that this signposting site is as current and helpful as possible to the local community.

The Web links are currently organised in to the following sections:

  1. General Health Information
  2. Your Local NHS
  3. Local Councils
  4. Voluntary and Community Groups
  5. Mental Health
  6. Disability Information Services
  7. Long Term Conditions
  8. Health Promotion and Prevention
  9. Alternative Medicine
  10. Driving and Travel Advice
  11. Pensions and Benefits Advice

These links are provided to give users quick access to a wide range of quality information resources on the above topics.

We are not responsible for the content of those sites. The inclusion of a link to a website should not, therefore, be interpreted as an endorsement of that site, its content, or any product or service it may provide.

Transactions between users and any external site are not the responsibility of the SCA Group or Fenwick2.

Before we link to an external website we assess its suitability. We do not link to sites in return for cash, services or any other consideration in kind.

For all our suggested websites that we link to, we require that they:

  • are free to access,
  • do not require registration to view basic content,
  • and make a clear distinction between normal editorial content and any advertising they may carry.

It is our intention that external websites that we refer to should:

  • have a quality assurance procedure,
  • present a responsible perspective,
  • be regularly reviewed and kept up to date, and
  • on health matters, use current and reliable clinical evidence that is verifiable from other sources
  • clearly state their sources of funding

Where possible we will seek to provide information or access to it in a variety of languages.

(None of the services offered by external companies, or the quality of service they provide, are endorsed by SCA, Fenwick 2 or the Patients and Carers Resource Centre .  SCA group and partners cannot be held liable for any loss or damage suffered if, for any reason an organisation fails to provide a service to a reasonable standard or is negligent in its provision).
