Fenwick2 highly commended in local award

March 02nd 2010

Fenwick2 was highly commended for its community facilities and ease of access in a local award this month.

New Forest organisations that have made a special effort to make their premises accessible to everyone were recognised in the Access For All Awards in February.

Organised by the charity group New Forest Access For All and sponsored by New Forest District Council, the awards recognised commitment to accessibility and an understanding of the problems often encountered by people with disabilities.

There were several categories and one overall winner announced at the awards ceremony at Appletree Court, Lyndhurst on 22 February.

Blashford Lakes, near Ringwood, won the recreation category and was overall winner. Wightlink Ferries won the transport category. Lymington URC Open Door Project was winner of the community facilities category, with Fenwick2 at Lyndhurst and Ringwood Library both highly commended.

Chairman of New Forest District Council Cllr Les Puttock said: "The New Forest Access For All awards ceremony recognises the understanding and commitment of local organisations to making their premises accessible to people of all abilities. All the finalists deserve a pat on the back for making life easier for those with disabilities to get around."
