Fundraising & Strategy

Why is it an exciting Investment?

Rather than making a donation to a charity on a one off basis, "investments" are made in a number of businesses which have consistent social missions.

The repayments from one investment will be reinvested in new activities, leading to a multiplier "social benefit effect" being achieved, contributing to a "social benefit" which is tangible and measurable and facilitate improvement to health and social care provision in the local community in a structured manner.

Using as the vehicle the SCA Group with its track record of success, good corporate governance and management, ensuring probity over donation.

Direct influence over the enterprises backed by inclusion on "investment and outcomes committee".

Direct PR advantages possible (if required).

Donations will be structured in the most tax effective manner

How does this fit with SCA Group Strategy?

SCA has a wealth of experience in innovating, setting up, running, developing, financing & successfully operating social enterprises in the social and healthcare sector.   It is one of the most established Social Enterprise Groups in England.  It operates four social enterprise businesses (of different constitutional entities) in the social and healthcare sectors along the South Coast.  It's main barrier to growth is capital.  It is restricted in the way it finances projects primarily to 'loan finance' which necessitates quick cash pay backs.  It is therefore heavily restricted in the type of venture it can get involved with.

By setting up the SCA Social Enterprise Incubator, it could get access to risk capital to leverage its positioning and increase the value of the social outcomes it currently generates.
