Day Care Clubs
We run five day clubs providing fun, friendship, support and respite in a safe and accessible venue. Transport is provided to and from the clubs by SCA Transport who provide a door-to-door service in fully accessible minibuses with fully trained drivers and escorts.
Our clubs are run by our team of trained and professional care staff along with a team of volunteers. We have been running clubs across the whole of Southampton for over 20 years.
Our dementia day clubs are specifically for older people with dementia. The added value of these clubs is the help and assistance they provide to carers. They have sensory gardens and sensory rooms to provide rest and relaxation or gentle stimulation for members of the club.
Our clubs offer:
|Social Interaction||a great opportunity to make friends and become part of a group|
|Mental Stimulation||memory exercises, reminiscence projects, word and number puzzles.|
|Physical Activities||such as gentle excercise classes, carpet bowls, movement to music and skittles|
|Arts and Crafts||a range of activities take place on a regular basis including painting, drawing, crafting and modelling.|
|Entertainment||visiting singers, parties, lectures, occassional lunches out, events and special outings.|
|Information||outside speakers such as the Fire Service, Mobility Aids, Guide Dogs for the Blind, Trading Standards and others. All aimed at supporting people to continue to safely enjoy living in their own home.|
|Nutrition||a healthy home-cooked lunch and refreshments throughout the day.|
|Personal Care||services such as hairdressing and chiropody can be arranged or advice and signposting to appropriate organisations.|
|Prevention||we have links with a wide network of local community services that we can put you in touch with.|
